The Twilight Concert series is the perfect date night for a fun Thursday night this summer. Twilight usually runs every Thursday through the summer and you can look online to see what artists will be playing. My tickets were $15 per person and we got to see Neon Trees. I bought my tickets directly from their website and just showed them my barcode at the gate. This event is located in downtown SLC at the Gallivan Center. The Gallivan center is located in the heart of downtown in between 2nd and 1st south as well as main street and state street. It's also right next to my work! You can catch me eating lunch at this park every Food Truck Thrusday.
This is an outdoor event that is "rain or shine" so cross your figures the day you plan to go will be as perfect weather as we had. If not, make sure the dress right! The worst thing you could do would be to be miserable and cold and/or wet the entire time. Our show started at 6pm and it wasn't until about halfway through that the sun started to set. This made for some awesome sunset city vibes. Make sure to get your tickets in advance just in case the show you want sells out. The crowd at our concert was pretty full!
I don't recommend bringing kids to this event. They do sell alcohol and people do start to get a little rowdy once the sunsets. Drinks were about $12 per drink, which is kind of expensive, but I've definitely seen worse. They offered just the basics and a few local brews. They had a lot on tap, which is nice if you are like me and hate drinking beer from a can!
They do sell hard alcohol in the VIP Lounge. These tickets are more expensive so we decided it wasn't worth it. But I do know my sister-in-law and brother-in-law were also at Neon Trees and they paid for the VIP Lounge and were giving tons of free shots. So if you'd a heavy hard alcohol drinker, this might be the better option for you.
We parked at the Wellsfargo parking lot. It was $5 to get in. It is a fully covered parking lot directly behind the concert's stage. The best way to get into this parking lot is heading west on 2nd south and turning right at the light.
After the show, we all decided to grabs a few more drinks at some of the downtown bars. This wasn't our most responsible Thursday night decision but we weren't ready to end the night just yet. There are plenty of bars you can walk to from the concert. We decided to head south on Main Street and went in 'Cheers to You' for a few Mind Erasers. If you ever go, I recommend the peanut butter and jelly or the Watermellon.
That's all for now! Check out my "boozy fun" tab for more fun and boozy date night ideas.
